This legislation and similar laws in Canada and some US states show us the antithesis—Christ came that we might have life and have it abundantly and this legislation tears at life; intends to blur what should be a distinct line between life and death.

Thank you for showing up on the green and reporting what occurred. In reading your reflection from your worship service—- this is mine; also just having left church. “No lie is of the truth.” I John 2:21. Also from Blackstone’s Commentary on the Laws of England. In Vol. I Book One, I. 1. he writes that any government which deals trifling with human life is no government— but is tyrannical.

It seems that while all of our scientific endeavors were necessary, the only power with adequate strength to overcome what is in front of us is spiritual in nature.

Blessings to you Clare.

As an autistic woman who has two autistic children, this bill terrifies me. I can see the top of the slippery slope, I can pretty much see the bottom. Our PM is a Fabian, one of those shadowy followers of Marx, who has no faith, no shame, and no conscience. The sanctity of human life means nothing to these people. We are numbers, to be decreased, hopefully as we are a drain on the purse of the state if we cannot be milked for our tax contributions. I pray the Lords will see sense and dismiss this anti human legislation.

As a veterinarian I have performed euthanasia numerous times and often owners said that they wished it was available for humans.

And although I understand these sentiments, I am vehemently opposed to this bill as I set out: https://open.substack.com/pub/myrauk/p/assisted-dying-a-veterinarians-perspective?r=ylgqf&utm_medium=ios

I hope the Lords see sense and stop it from becoming legislation.

As someone who "humanely euthanized" a pet who was in heart failure and it was botched over and over, it was the most horrifying experience I have ever had and I would not wish the emotional torture on my worst enemy. It still haunts me almost 3 years later.

As a nurse before retiring I would have had great inner conflict in helping someone commit suicide. I am not religious but I still hold life as precious and to actively assist someone to end their life fills me with dread. For a nurse or doctor to be present with their patient and their only nursing or medical goal is to assist in helping that patient end their life is morally and professionally wrong.

How opposed were the MP's who voted against this non human bill? Are they opposed enough to collectively argue their case, that they CANNOT, in good conscience, be seated in or part of a death cult? Time for a new system, the old one is done.

A few of them were very good.

However, too many started their opposition comments with "I am not opposed to assisted dying in principle but..."

Assisted dying & principle should not be used in the same sentence.

Thank you Clare. My father is 82 and in a nursing home. Several times in the last few years I've been told to expect the worst from doctors and questioned about resuscitation. This legislation scares me deeply and goes against the principal of what I deem a civilised society were life is sacrosanct to the individual. I say this as a non Christian agnostic. Many thanks as usual for your calm and reasoned arguments.

It's a short jump from "legal" to "mandatory".
